What does the Little Bluestem Grass and Samantha Ryan have in common?

Meaningless but nice resolutions honoring people and organizations are pretty common in state houses and city council chambers all over the country.

Maybe something like "Johnson County Commission presents JOCOeveryman a resolution naming him Blogger of the Day for March 8" would be appropriate.

Almost with as much difficulty of reforming health care in Washington the Kansas House acted on making the Little Bluestem the official grass of Kansas. I guess California already claimed Cannabis. Now off to the Senate. There was controversy and debate. It is kinda like asking your 6 year old to sort M&M's by color while you are cooking so they can say they are helping. It doesn't do much harm and nobody gets hurt! I say keep up the good work you little legislators! Stay away from taxing and regulating as much as possible. How about working on an official Kansas suburban house color next?

We have several official symbols but not as many as you'd think. We all know the state tree is the Cottonwood and the state bird is Meadowlark. Some of us might even know that the state song is "Home on the Range". Sing it to yourself now please.........I said to yourself.

Reptile: Ornate Box Turtle (cause a regular Box Turtle just wouldn't do for Kansas)

Amphibian: Barred Tiger Salamander

Insect: Honeybee (we've all seen the movie and know how important they are so good choice)

Soil: Harney Series Silt Loam. (We have a soil so we need something official to plant in it).

Official Feline: Common Johnson County Cougar (Nickious Jacobonius species)

Official Criminal: Gardner Meth addict

Official Candidate for 3rd District: Tom Scherer

Official Porn Star: Samantha Ryan

Official Meaningless Attraction: World's Largest Ball of Twine

Official Seasoning: Salt
