Olson Reminds me that King's Dream is Still Not Reality for Everyone

Today, especially today, should remind us that while great progress has been made for some in our country others are still seeking the equality that most of us enjoy.

If the struggle for Civil Rights for African Americans was the moral fight for people in the forties, fifties and sixties then equality in marriage for all people regardless of their sexual preference is the rally for people in our generation. Marriage Equality. When this is all said and done will you able to tell your grandchildren that you stood for equality for all Americans or be like Strom Thurmond, Fritz Hollings, Robert Byrd and even Al Gore Sr who opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1964? On what side will you stand?

I am a conservative and I believe that all people are created equal. Either you believe it or you don't.

We don't all have the same rights in this country.

On an airplane last night I read this article by Ted Olson in Newsweek. It wasn't lost on me that evening that the next day was Martin Luther King Jr. Day. I want to encourage you to read it.
