Scherer Has Officially Jumped the Shark. I endorse Yoder.

I have been busier than a one armed wallpaper hanger lately. I feel bad that I haven't written more. Really. I hope both people who read will forgive me. Maybe you needed a break too?

Anyway........I hate it that so many good sojoco blog topics whizzed past while I couldn't get the time to get to the computer but if you thought I was going to let Tom Scherer's party switch-er-oooo---redux---you are allegedly even more nuts than Tom (I allege). Am I being punked?

I wrote this before as part of a bigger post quite awhile ago but I believe as whole heartedly as William Hung believes he can sing that Tom Scherer is absolutely obsessed with running for (and losing) the 3rd District. What would you call that? What kind of mania is that? Congressionalania? Thirddistrictialoserepeatedlyamania? I dunno.

What I do know is this.......Tom can sell everything he owns including every baseball card he has ever tried to buy on ebay and every nickel he has never gotten from threatening to sue the world and throw it at running for the Third Congressional district and he will still lose. I think Tom MUST know this. But the nomination? VERY possible if we all work together like Howard Stern pushing Sanjaya. I mean it. Get it? Let's make the geek homecoming king if only for just a night.

Tom, all us still residing in the GOP are cheering for you. Really. Give Stephene hell. If you get a debate with her I want a front row ticket. Oddly he might have a point in that he will obviously do better just getting the protest Democratic vote. I want to be the first one to officially endorse Tom Scherer for the Democratic nomination for the 3rd Congressional District. I want to see that win. I might even contribute.

I will say he writes some very funny stuff and I definitely think it is must read. When I saw this....seriously.......I thought I was being punked. I had to check to make sure it wasn't April 1st. I was looking for Ashton Kusher to pop out at any moment.

What comes after "jumping the shark".....hell........not even Happy Days had the balls to try to overcome that one.

And while I'm at it for 3rd District politics I guess I'll end any further anticipation from my friends in the GOP and endorse Kevin Yoder.
Yoder will win the GOP nomination and I predict get an easy win against Scherer in the general. I like that he is young and will in all likelihood hold the seat for many years. I accept that he might have been a little liberal in his youth but it seems plausible that one evolves in their politics as they start to pay taxes. Yoder is clearly the best choice and the safe choice. Yoder is a legit fiscal conservative.
He has stated his core priorities which I completely agree with regarding waste and deficit spending. That is what this election is about. Sending someone to Washington who will try to rein in the spending of our grand kids cash. I encourage you to support Kevin Yoder as well.
What do you think? Yoder v Scherer? I like the sound of it.

Okay Jackasses....one more time. Stephene Moore.

Please do it. Please transfer all that campaign cash to your wife and then go tell everyone she would have more backbone than you.

I can't find a single thing on the woman on the Internet. You almost have to work at something like that don't you when your husband has been in Congress for all these years? Looks like the Facebook page must have come down over the weekend......hmmmm. A search keeps giving me this rugby player......close enough, right?

Jackass.

Mr Scherer Responds Angrily To My Post

So, today, I guess I am the lucky bastard not SOB. Mr Scherer, the better candidate for your U.S. Congress, sent me some really fun and interesting comments about my post yesterday. I approved and posted them but I couldn’t just hope people found them buried in the comments section of my blog so I am providing them compiled and completely unedited (typos included) for your reading at the end.

I appreciate the fact that he took time to respond to my questions about his resume and background. I’m sure after you read his comments you’ll feel SO much more comfortable. I know for me it was very uh, er, helpful.

His first complaint is that I’ve infringed on his copyright by using the banner from his blog. Fair enough. While I don’t know for sure I’ll concede the point. I’ll admit that it was a little frustrating trying to find an actual picture of the man on the Internet to use. You would think a candidate would have had some coverage along the way? For that I’ll apologize and I've taken it down. I hope Mr. Scherer will accept my apology. I try to admit if I've made a mistake.

To begin, well, I love people who jump to absolutes like because I commented on what he writes as his resume and ask questions about it (like the Democratic candidate wouldn’t??) that I presume to be an expert on him and everything. For Mr.Scherer if I question or comment on something = being an expert on it.

I love how he takes me to task for writing by blog under a pen name but that he seems to think it is okay for JOCO SOB because "SOB might actually helo this metro area reduce violence by rasing awareness". Writing anonymously is an important tradition in American political discourse. The Federalist Papers were written under the name “Publius” and rebutted under the name “The Federal Farmer”. Of course I’m not nearly as important as those guys but the 1995 Supreme Court ruling in McIntyre v. Ohio Elections Commission reads:

“Protections for anonymous speech are vital to democratic discourse. Allowing
dissenters to shield their identities frees them to express critical, minority
views . . . Anonymity is a shield from the tyranny of the majority. . . . It
thus exemplifies the purpose behind the Bill of Rights, and of the First
Amendment in particular: to protect unpopular individuals from retaliation . . .
at the hand of an intolerant society.”

Further, Mr. Scherer defends hiding the identity of Jane Doe as an “important campaign team member” because she works for the feds and he states that working on a campaign is a violation of the law in her position (maybe referring to the Hatch Act). It seems in some federal positions it is permitted and in others it isn't. If she is permitted then she doesn't need to be a Jane Doe. If she isn't permitted then she is breaking the law and Mr Scherer is a party to that. If that is the case do we really want somebody who violates our laws, or allows their people to violate the law representing us in Washington? I guess the laws don't apply to him. Oh, wait, maybe that does make him ready to be our Congressman. At a minimum if he really cared about her would he allow her to put her career in jeopardy for his political gain? Sad. If he is dismissive of this law which laws would he not care about in the future? At any rate, I have my own reasons, mostly for creative freedom, that I chose to write under the pen name Jocoeveryman. I guess it is okay for some to be anonymous and not others.

Mr. Scherer makes defense of his using JOCO SOB’s blog as a mode for getting information out (I guess as opposed to mine??)by complimenting the quality of SOB’s blog. Sir, I concur. SOB has a quite excellent blog and I’ve written on several occasions I believe he is Johnson County’s best blogger, hands down and enjoys a huge readership. I’m happy for him not jealous. SOB and I have different goals for our blogs. I try, not always successfully, to keep the focus of my blog on Johnson County or at least write from a Johnson County perspective. I’m glad he “ges your respect”. He deserves it. What I meant by him being lucky to get that email is lucky like being the first reporter to a car wreck. It was meant as sarcasm. I'll admit perhaps poorly written but intended as sarcasm none the less.

I appreciate Mr. Scherer addressing some of the “errors” in my post. I’m glad he clarified his work experience and named some of the Fortune 50 companies for which he provided “consulting”. I can’t figure out why he wouldn’t have just named them in his blog to begin with since he seems to go and on and on about everything else at incredible length. Funny, how so many old, forcefully, er, I mean, semi retired white guys run around calling themselves consultants. Just an observation I've noticed. I'm sure Mr. Scherer's work will be completely examined if he is the Republican nominee and it will turn out he did important and meaningful work for those Fortune 50 companies.

I love how Mr. Scherer expects me to know all this stuff about his personal life. I think they were fair questions and certainly questions that would be asked if he were nominated. His angry responses to a blogger are so telling to how he would respond under pressure. Poorly. All I can say about law school and the suit against Merck as well as Harvard and the VA is it seems to this voter like such a victim’s mentality. Winners find ways past obstacles. I love the quote by Randy Pausch when he said,

“Brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep
us out. The brick walls are there to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want something badly enough. They are there to keep out the other people.”

Clearly, he didn’t want to go to Harvard that badly and he didn’t want to be a lawyer that badly. How badly does he want to be my Congressman from the 3rd District? Losers make excuses.

Finally, crap, I hate these really long posts because I know what Mr. Scherer still has to learn is that nobody reads them when they are too long. Again, sorry. Mr Scherer, I would welcome you to provide any comment you want on my rants either by comment on the blog or by sending me an email. Yes, they are rants. Rants are appropriate for a blogger, not for a person who wants to be my Congressman. The anger and rage is apparent in his writing.

Sir, I said it before and I’ll say it again. You seem to be well intentioned, a true conservative, a patriot, and a man who honorably served our country. I respect that. You are also, in my opinion, out of your league running for Congress. It is just my opinion but that is what I do on my blog....offer opinions. The couple dozen people who read this blog can read your words and decide for themselves.

Now, for the words of Thomas Scherer in response to yesterday's post:

Sir, you are infringing on my copyrighted web site. Please provide me where I
gave you permission to take my property (web site graphics, photo) and why that
taking is not a violation of federal/state law allowing me to seek relief/remedy
for that infringement?Tom Scherer, the better candidate for your U.S.
Congress,

Finally sir, since you appear to be an expert
knowing more about me, than I do, why do you hide and not give your real name or
contact information? Are you afraid to reveal your identity? In regard to your
blog, I have read it. I could have sent you a post, but hardly anyone reads your
blog because it not worth reading.Whereas I have respect for the dark satire on
JOCOB's site related to his posts on making others aware of violence in the
metro area. By making us aware, SOB might actually helo this metro area reduce
violence by rasing awareness. He ges my respect. You do
not.

Now let me address some of your errors. I never
stated I worked as a consultant for one Fortune 50 Company. I worked for
several. GE, Sprint, American Airlines for starters. Does that help?Second, Jane
Doe is working for the federal government. Because of that position, she cannot
be named because of her job position which prevents them from being associated
with any political campaign. Since you are an expert on everything, you should
know that. Third, as you correctly note, I completed one year of law school.
While at law school, I was given a prescribed medication (statin) that was done
in error. I almost died from it. Hence, why I filed suit against Merck and got
judicial review by the United States Supreme Court in 2007. I am sure you knew
that also since you are such an expert on everything. I was invited by Harvard
to attend Harvard in 2006. The VA refused to pay for my attending Harvard,
despite me being eligble under Chapter 31 of Title 38. I am sure you aware of
that also. Finally, since you are wiser than all of us, when are filing for
United States Congress?

Thanks for your opinion. If you specific
answers, you can always call me. Or I if you give your contact info, I can
address some of your own rants and speculation. My number is 403 8584. Since you
are a fan now, call me.

Awesome Post by JOCO SOB: Tom Scherer is a Classic.

PHOTO REMOVED.

I have to say I hadn't read JOCO SOB's post from Sunday with the email from Tom Scherer, candidate with probably little, er, uh, I mean NO chance of winning the nomination, until after I blasted Steve Rose for his memo on the race. Really, since Dennis Moore-Pelosi dropped out even Lightner is a done. This race was returned to the big boys, the power brokers of Johnson County Republicans the second Moore-Pelosi dropped out. Forget it Scherer....you are fighting with Lightner over who gets picked last for the recess kick ball game.

Classic stuff from the SOB you lucky bastard. Scherer thinks SOB is helping him by posting that email, er rant but really......not so much. Really? A rant at the media....with typos included? Embarrassing I'd say. As a conservative does he really really expect a fair shake from the media. Naive. He says in a comment to SOB's post, "Wow, you really put that email up quick" adding there will be more of this whining and sniffling on his blog at http://www.schererforyourcongressman.blogspot.com/. Seriously, Tom, you have my attention. I'm be checking back for more (good laughs) for sure. Tom, you really got the liberal media back in line with that blast. Wow....direct hit! wink. "United States of the News Media". Gold. Pure Gold there Tommy Boy.

Classy Mr. Scherer. Stay Classy. It reminds me a little of John Toplikar stealing signs......himself. Guys, how many times do I have to tell you......you have to get others to do your dirty work. This is politics rule numero uno.

This is exactly how we would want someone representing us to act up in Washington.......nice. Like Moore-Pelosi wasn't embarrassing enough.

As a footnote I want to say after trying to spend a few precious moments of my day looking at his blog I'll say he seems like a real conservative whose heart is in the right place. I respect that. He served our country in the Vietnam War in the Navy. I absolutely respect that. Let's get real here. Really, just a look at the ramblings of the blog and that email SOB posted will tell you he isn't ready to be our Congressman. Citing Jane Doe as an important part of his campaign team??? Really? "Invited" to attend Harvard Graduate School.........why didn't he go? Completed one year of law school.....why didn't he finish? Current work is as a Civil Rights Activist, Writer, Statesman since 1994.......seriously....I can't make this stuff up. Go to the blog and read it. I guess if people believe Community Organizer is a job I guess they might believe this too. Of course there is the work with an unnamed Fortune 50 company as a consultant. It all sounds purposefully vague. I'll admit it is nothing if not really entertaining. I just hate for it to be at another conservative's expense. I hate that this is probably a really well intentioned man who yells at the TV when watching MSNBC and really thinks he can help. Sorry Tom, you'll have to move over now.....the big boys are here to eat and there is a seat at the kid's table if you are still hungry.

This year's Master of the Obvious Award: Steve Rose

I was going to wait until the end of the year to announce all these prestigious awards but this one just can't wait.

I was getting ready to drop my copy of The Johnson County Sun in the recycling bin as I took my normal glance below the fold on the front page to glance at Steve Rose's wisdom.

I'm used to reading old news in the paper that I've already seen either online or on television but I like to go to the paper to read about stuff that you can't get in a sound bite. I think the paper is still pretty relevant for breaking complex news stories and investigative reporting......if they would actually do it. They have to help themselves as they spiral toward irrelevancy. Please something insightful and I'll read and enjoy it.

I was hopeful when I saw Steve Rose write about the upcoming race for the Kansas 3rd District that there would be some real insight instead what I got was serious Master of the Obvious stuff that was truly award worthy.

Mr. Rose breaks the news that this seat will go back to Republicans and notes some incredibly insightful (not) assertions that conservatives show up for off year primaries more so than casual moderate Republicans resulting in pro-life conservatives getting their candidate to the general. Whew....thanks Steve. He notes that there isn't a Democrat in view and that Dennis Moore was vulnerable because of his 100% support of a liberal agenda over the past year. Double whew.......thanks Steve. Strong analysis there. Any first year Political Science student could have nailed all that. I'm surprised he didn't also predict that Adam Taft wouldn't run.....cuz I was wondering about that. Steve, buddy, please work a little harder and assume your reader has a half a brain. Look, I'm not saying Steve Rose isn't a smart guy I'm just saying he mailed it in on this one and he has to do better. I'm not even saying it is easy. I'm sure it is hard but Mr. Johnson County? I expect more. Lame effort.

I'll take the seat back however we can get it but I will say the victory will be a little less sweet by not ever getting to beat Mr. Moore-Pelosi. I so would have enjoyed seeing that two faced jackass squirm and dance through this campaign. The kill is officially no joy.

And for this effort.........Steve Rose gets my 2009 Master of the Obvious Award. Congrats!

I Told You So Monday!

I used to be humble. I used to be well, lots of things I'm not anymore. Like thin, good looking, in good shape.....stop me anytime, right?

I don't do it often so what the hell.

I don't have kickass tipsters....hell, sometimes I'm not even sure anyone is reading.

I just have thoughts and ideas. Some are inspired.......many not.

So when I heard on the news this morning that there will be an announcement today that Dennis Moore will NOT seek another term. I said......I predicted that. Damn, I'm good. I've linked to that post so you can easily find it. Apparently, Dennis Moore is the coward I thought he was all along. It was easy when your leadership gave you a pass on liberal issues to help you hold your seat. However when you won by 10 points last time and the game was looking like it was on the line Satan came calling to collect the soul you sold her.

Dennis Moore's people know what I've been saying all along. Republicans were ready to rise up and take back the Kansas 3rd this time. Maybe they read this blog...he he he he.....uh probably not.

Smelling the blood in the water is almost every worthless Republican candidate who Moore disposed of over the last decade. Please can we get somebody fresh and talented this time? Rumors are Nick Jordan wants another crack. In the only televised debate between him and Dennis Moore during the last election Jordan really did kick Moore's ass. Unfortunately, nobody saw and it and even more sadly......nobody in the real media reported it. Otherwise Jordan ran an uninspired and underfunded race.
Michael Mahoney said this morning it was "predictable and not surprising"......really? Where were you out front calling it? I predict.....he reports......apparently.

I'll keep my clock counting down the end of Dennis Moore's term running! You'll find it at the bottom of the blog.

That Dog Was Never Blue

Don't think of it any other way than Dennis Moore strongly believes in the house National Healthcare Bill WITH a Public Option. This wasn't some vote about which he was strongly conflicted. This wasn't a vote in which he lost sleep over what he AND his constituents wanted and what his party expected him to do at all. He voted for this bill because he liked it. Plain and simple.

Why can I say this with confidence? 31 other Democrats from conservative areas voted against it and it still passed by 5 votes. He could have voted against it and pull what I call a Toplikar. In other words vote against something because it looks good to your constituents knowing your vote won't make the difference and it will still pass.

I have a bolder prediction to make in the wake of this vote. Dennis Moore either won't run for reelection next year OR he will only put in a less than half hearted effort. I'm beginning to think there might be a surprise announcement that he isn't running. He can blame it on death threats, or he can let rumors about his own health regarding early dementia go unchallenged but I am starting to think there is no way this guy can treat his constituents this way, still call himself a Blue Dog Democrat and come back here and run for reelection. Either that or simply put this guy has the biggest brass balls I've ever seen. To think he can come home and tell people he is a closet conservative on fiscal issues and progressive on social issues......er the typical JOCO Moderate Republican and then be Nancy Pelosi's bitch lap dog on the Hill is beyond the pale of thinking he is unbeatable. Either way......this next election is going to be fun. I'm fired up and not fired up mad like some might think. I'm fired up happy like an Olathe North football player on Friday night fired up. I'm fired up like the rednecks from Spring Hill on payday heading to Bonita Flats. (Seriously, click this link....you didn't know this shit existed in SOJOCO) Okay, I'll confess I went there for my bachelor party but I've heard that Bunny no longer works there and that was a long time ago. Really. Long. Time. Ago. I'm fired up like any team in the NFL when they see the Chiefs on their schedule. I'm fired up like Mark Teahen must have felt when he learned he was traded out of Kansas City. I'm fired up like.....well you get the picture. I'm clearing my calendar right now, hell, I might even take vacation next year just to work against Dennis Moore. Thank you God, I've been waiting for this day. Dennis Moore.......this weekend you signed your political death warrant.

Oh......instead of dealing directly with his constituents he put out this letter.....and I'm sure he never read the bill (how could anyone).........explaining why he is voting for it just in case you want to hear from him.....well....directly? Stay classy Dennis!!!

Of Course there are two other candidates....

TKC mentioned me on his blog yesterday. He says that in calling out Patricia Lightner as an early favorite (who he says can't possibly win).....I guess he is suggesting I don't know what I'm talking about? Like Tony knows shit about Johnson County politics. He might be pretty good on Mayor Funky and what goes on in (car)Jack County but other than calling us a bunch of JC Nichols racists he doesn't really have much of a clue on JOCO. That's okay Tony......that is why you read me for all things in SoJoCo.

I'll spare you the analysis of what happened last night but what it means to us and this race is that the game has finally changed. I very much enjoyed flipping back and forth between Keith Olbermann and FOX to see the right and left spin.

I hope everyone keeps being so dismissive of the conservative patriots working at the grass roots right now who are focusing on liberty instead of social issues. Liberty is what's at stake.

The 3rd does come back to the Republicans in 2010. The redistricting that split Lawrence along with the Obama's policies will make that happen.

I said yesterday that Patricia Lightner looked like an early front runner. She has legislative experience and knows how to run a campaign. This gives her an early advantage.

There are other candidates and I suspect with the developments of last night we will see other candidates as well......perhaps some better perhaps not.

I didn't mean to suggest I'm ENDORSING Patricia Lightner.

Here are the other two candidates:

Dan Gilyeat: A true Patriot and American hero. Unfortunately, he doesn't have the experience or know how to really do the job. I certainly honor his love of country and service and wish him the best.

John Rysavy: Looks like if he can put together an organization he might have a shot. Old white guys aren't trendy in politics right now.

Dennis Moore must be sent packing this time

Really. If this whole Democratic majority doesn't motivate the 3rd District's conservative base to wake up I don't know what will. It was all cute and everything to keep sending this arrogant ass back to Washington when the Republicans had a majority because he couldn't do that much harm and frankly, he pretended to vote as a Blue Dog on just enough issues to keep the base satisfied when really on anything important he voted as a liberal. I looked long and hard for pictures with Moore and Pelosi together. You think it is by mistake that he isn't pictured hardly anywhere with his boss? He knows it is political suicide but he is voting exactly the way Pelosi wants right up to and including the government option in this health care bill.

Well, I said a year ago he was a lapdog for Nancy Pelosi and that is what he has been. I researched and documented his voting record online and still everyone thought he was a conservative democrat.

Now to add insult to injury he is a coward and won't face his own constituents. Chicken shit. He was a no show at a health care forum that left the 3rd District without a place to voice their opinions on the issue. I guess Pelosi told him not to bother. Even Claire McCaskell is more man than Dennis Moore. She showed up to listen to her peeps.

I think this is our best chance to reclaim this seat. People need to get involved in this fight this time. We can get him out.

He has a liberal voting record that doesn't represent the 3rd District except all my nutty professors in Lawrence. Speaking of Lawrence, it is now split in half with part of it now in the 2nd. That is good news. We need to demand that the national party put the resources into this race for us to win it back. The Kansas Meadowlark wrote a great post on his chicken shit ways.

We've got the Chicken Shit where we want him this time. I'm not big on reposting stuff but here is a post from last year that I did on his voting ratings and it is as important today as it was then. Maybe more. He is only getting more liberal. I wrote this on 8/11/2008. I'll do an update on his voting record for a future post via Project Vote Smart. I'm sure it has only gotten worse. Read.

"I did a little research into how our third district man fairs in some key areas. He always tries to pretend when he is home that he is pretty moderate democrat.....a blue dog democrat if you will....but his voting record and how he is graded by people I'd never support tells you he is an old fashioned liberal.I checked out Project Vote Smart online and thought it was a pretty good resource. I pulled out a couple nuggets:I received a comment that questioned the information in this post. I said above it is from Project Vote Smart which is easy to find online. It takes a little more than normal intelligence to click through and find the interest group ratings. Here is the link. I hope it clarifies my source. I should have linked to it sooner. It is a good site.

In 2007, he supported the very liberal National Education Association (NEA) 100%.

In 2007, NARAL Pro-Choice gave him a score on supporting them of 100%.

In 2007, he supported The Humane Society's interests 83% of the time. He likes animals more than babies apparently.

In 2007, the National Taxpayer's Union, a tax watchdog group, gave him a grade of "F".

The American Civil Liberties Union loves Dennis Moore and gave him a grade of 100%.

The Traditional Values Coalition gave him a grade of ZERO in 2007.

The ultra liberal and radical Sierra Club said he supported their interests 100% in 2003 and in 2008 Environment America another liberal tree hugger group gave him a score of 100%.

The NRA and the Gun Owners of America gave our former law and order man an "F" in 2007.

The AFL-CIO gave him a rating of 96% in 2007. I wonder what he didn't support that they wanted......a bill making Jimmy Hoffa's birthday a national holiday?

The American Bar Association loves him and gave him a score of 100%. Lawyers love him.

Finally, he voted to make Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House.

In summary: Pro Choice, Animal rights, Labor Unions, Lawyers (he is one), and extreme environmental groups love Dennis Moore. Just a quick question for all you who have crossed over and voted for Dennis Moore.......are those the things you support as well? "

I'm still looking at it but at first glance.......I'm liking Patricia Lightner to take him on and win in 2010. Trust me, it isn't too soon to start talking about
it.
