How I pick which news I watch

I'm going to admit something a little shallow about myself. Well.....it isn't that much of a risk because, except for a very small inner circle, I do this blog anonymously.......as my alter ego Jocoeveryman. Just to admit it to myself........that I have a shallow bone in my body......is something. Anyway.....regular readers know I'm pretty shallow whether I admit it to myself or not.

I pick the local news I watch based on which anchor women are the cutest. There I said it. I mean they have to be good at what they do but after that cuteness goes a long way in determining what channel I land upon. I look at it like this for local news. It is all the same stuff and for the most part should we really consider someone who can read the news from a teleprompter a journalist? It is a skill but more one about performance than gravitas.

The 60th anniversary of WDAF and the warm and fuzzy command performance of Cynthia Smith as guest anchor made me think about my favorite news readers over the past few years. By the way......weather girls don't count. They aren't on long enough to matter AND they probably won every science fair as a kid......not fair to objectify such beauty over brains, eh?

So, 28 or so years after Christine Craft made national news for suing local channel 9 and Hearst for gender discrimination I take it to new lows that would make her hair stand on end.
If only I could watch Veronica Corningstone every night.

Cynthia Smith was a cute little dish herself back in the day. Of course I was in elementary school at the time and all platinum blondes caused wood in those days.

Here are some that I liked watching................

Remember...........

Anne Peterson back in the day. She was Kansas City's sweetheart news anchor. Frankly not bad now really.

Kelly Minton. She was a brunette at NBC-local in the mid 90's. Very hot. She just disappeared one day. I remember reading about a month later a story about how she was being stalked and quietly got the hell out of town. Back in those days you could just disappear. However, she later turned up in Louisville but it looks like she protects her privacy pretty strongly after that because finding pictures of her on the internet was less than fruitful.

Harris Faulkner. She was the anchor for WDAF-4 for 8 years from 1992-2000. Now you can see her on Fox doing news updates and filling in. Still very beautiful.

Laura Thornquist. She was short lived at WDAF-4 as well but I thought she was very cute. Looks like she is still in KC doing PR/Advertising/Staffing work.

Some easy ones to watch now.........

Donna Pitman

Surae Chinn

Amy Hawley

Shelli Lockhart

Amy Anderson on most days

and Kansas City's newest and best newsie babe.........

Stephanie Hockridge at WDAF-4. I wish I could more pictures of her for you but a man has to work sometime. By the way, the cute one at the top is her as well. She came here for a man so I think she'll stick around. Hopefully, a long time!

By the way........you can now follow me on Twitter. @jocoeveryman and on Facebook at Life in Sojoco

I used to watch Heather Hayes on our local NBC in Green bay....she was very attractive-(no I am not a lesbian or looking for a threeway) but I appreciate seeing lovely news ladies on tv. That is one great reason to scan the dial. Heather was supposedly having a thing w/Favre back here in the late 90's??? She was replaced by "piggie" as my husband kindly calls her. Most of the anchormen up here in the Northwoods are old, gray and beefy. Finding hot mamas to do the news in this tv market is tough. Beer, curds and deer huntin just ain't the callin card for purty anchor women.
Shallow & proud of it-Jayne
PS-where is Laurie Dhue(sp)from Fox News?? She's another attractive gal.

Thanks for commenting Jayne. If I went throught the list of national newsie girls who are hot I'd still be typing. There are so many. That's why Laurie Dhue isn't on my list. I tried to stick with the locals. Plus, there are really quite a few more even here. I feel bad leaving them out and all.

Notice that Green Bay-Fox Cities has no list of tv beauties cuz they all look like me.
Glad your news viewing is pleasurable.

I'm a little partial to Loren Halifax in the mornings. Karli Ritter as well.

Bill, I like Lauren as well. I didn't do weather girls but Karli Ritter is cute too. I actually made a list quite a bit longer but I just thought it would make me look bad to think they are all hot :-)

I know this is o/t but I wanted to bring it up to you since you discussed it months ago. We need to organize against Moore. He doesn't even have a republican opponent. No More Moore !

Thoughts?
