14,894 Idiots in Johnson County

We all know there are Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes in a year courtesy of Seasons of Love from Rent and you know I count them all by LOVE.

We all know who won and lost last week but I thought I take a little deeper look into the number for a second.....a reality check.

John Toplikar received 14,894 votes in a losing effort. Is this the size of the voting extreme right in JOCO or is this the size of the No tax, No annexation group in this county? He beat John Segale as he garnered 7693 votes. John Patrick Segale is on suicide watch right about now. A dude who is a complete idiot and a criminal doubled his vote total. Ouch. I'm not sure if this is the size of the hard core, blind, dogmatic right but if it is on the one hand I'm pleased it is so small and on the other..........scared that there are 14,894 idiots in this county. I guess you could also say since turnout was only about 20% that 14894 represents just the VOTING hard core, blind, dogmatic right and that the real total is about 75,000 registered voters?

Looking at things another way.........I was interested in the power of packing the race with lots of candidates. In the US House 3rd District race where we all but conceded Yoder would roll to an easy victory had a decent challenge in Patricia Lightner. But the real story to me is that more people voted AGAINST Yoder than voted for him. Including Lightner's pull, 35,650 voted against Yoder combining all 8 candidates not named Kevin Yoder. Hmmmm......interesting. Had any three of the candidates in a crowded field NOT run and NOT supported Yoder we could be looking at a Chick Fight for the 3rd....well, some might contend it is still a chick fight. Now, we know Yoder would have pulled his share of those votes but you never know and now we'll never know. Just how big is the Johnson County Tea Party?

Another interesting question is how big is typical JOCO person's sphere of influence? With no money and no big organization behind you how many people like you enough to vote for you in Johnson County. It seems to be about 1,600. Of the "all others" most of them received about 1,600 to 1,700 votes. So if you are a good, decent person between your family, friends and the friends they are willing to encourage your sphere of influence should be about 1,600 people. Even Tom Scherer got 2,545 protest votes but because of the outrage of thinking that a elected job is a family right he should have seen an even bigger turnout. Should have been more. Can't figure that one out.

The lesson might be that to just be in the race when you know you don't have the financial backing or experience CAN have an impact on the final result AND just might hurt your cause mortally. While it might be your right as an American.....it might be just downright unAmerican to run when you know you can't win. But then again, if you are Tom Scherer....please by all meaning don't break the streak now....there might be world record for longest continuous campaign at risk.

Anyway, we now know that if you go missing in Johnson County you should be able to get about 1,600 people to help look for you or at least post a lame message about you on their Facebook page.

Is there some Chinese Dissident desperately trying to reach me!

Pretty much daily when I approve comments written to the blog there are a couple in Chinese which I reject. By the way, I almost never reject a comment......unless it is Chinese, duh.

I barely speak English so you know Chinese is out of the question.

Then I was thinking. What if.......... there is a desperate little Chinese student in Beijing needing my help to water the plant of democracy there? What if...........he reads the blog and thinks I'm China's last hope reaching through an electronic matrix hoping I understand him and help. I'm Timmy and he is Lassie...... "What is it boy?", say Timmy. "Rrrrrruffff", responds Lassie. "Lassie, you are saying old man Thompson is stuck in a hole and I need to come and save him? Lassie, you are the best dog ever"

I'm imagining a translation. "Dear Mr. Honorable JocoEveryman: I know you are most respected writer in your country and so wise on so many important topics. I love the photographs you post on Friday of hot American babes that drink wine with you during the week. Thank you for the broccoli and spinach you and your mom sent to my country back in 1972. I am Pei Wei and I desperately require your help........"

And I've been just rejecting them all this time? Talk about a story. Talk about a movie deal.

Or maybe a really cute Chinese girl.........okay probably not.

Or it could just be some Chinese assholes trying to get me to buy fake Viagra again. If you have an erection that lasts more than four hours seek medical attention immediately......

Why McLatte is wrong.

I remember when they were test marketing this stuff and I simply said I don't trust it because with McDonalds you really don't have any effing idea what is really in it. I'm ranting about McDon't-alds......ahem.....so called McCafe.....coffee bar and those people they call Baristas that push the buttons on the machine.

I remember when they were giving free lattes just to get you to try it. I'm going through the drive through and Juanita says not would you like to try a free latte but here is your free latte as I rolled down my window. I said, "No, thanks......I don't want one" to which she replied, "It is free, take it".

I again politely rebuffed her most generous offer like a twenty something college hottie being asked by a zit faced high schooler to the prom but she said....."please, I'm really suppose to get everyone to take one of these". So, being the benevolent sojoco'er that I am I take it and what the hell......I'll taste it and maybe be pleasantly surprised. WRONG. Horrible. Thin. Watery. Sweet. Artificial. Bad. How can espresso and milk get screwed up?

Fast forward to this weekend. My mother AWESOMELY arrives at my son's game to what is going to be a horribly boring hour and a half (I am a JOCO parent who can actually admit this and that I'd rather be someplace, almost anyplace else) with a fistful of McSomething or anothers. She starts handing them out. Do these look like actual coffee drinks or something created in an evil McDonald's lab in Oak Brook, Illinois????

"Here", she says, "I got you guys Iced Lattes".

Like I said to the little drive through gal, "No, thanks", holding up my cup of bourbon carefully hidden in an insulated cup....."brought something to drink". Nothing like a Sunday afternoon half pint of Maker's Mark, right?

She hands them out and explains how she'd never had an iced latte before but wow, she liked these. It looks like barely dirty milk. I take a taste. So sweet.

I tell her, "You've still never had an iced latte". WTF.

Calling that an iced latte is like saying Andre Cold Duck is real champagne. Not only is it wrong but it a disservice to real coffee. Yes, like a wine snob I am a coffee snob. Deal. I thought most JOCO people were too. Maybe not.

I'm digressing but I have two standard Starbucks orders depending on the weather, time of day, and my mood.

First, a Venti skinny latte with an extra shot. Translation for Wyandotte County: The biggest cup you have latte made with skim milk and 3 shots of espresso. 4 shots if you get it iced.

Second: Very simple pleasure. Venti Iced Coffee leave a little room at the top. Translation (against as service to the Wyandotte people reading): Biggest cup they have filled with ice and regular coffee that was brewed double strong and previously cooled to room temperature and then put in the fridge. Then...not filled all the way full so milk can be added. I do this because I want such a scant little drizzle of skim milk added that almost anybody else would put too much. Friends the coffee must be made ahead and cooled. I went to an upstart little coffee shop in Olathe where the cute lady looked at me with a funny look and proceeded to pour hot coffee over a cup of ice......coffee foul.

Seriously McDon't-alds.....what IS in it? That crap is as fake a Joan Rivers face. As fake as Dennis Moore's Blue Dog Democrat membership card. As fake as the telephone number I gave to an old high school classmate I saw this weekend. Do you have to ruin every thing that is good and pure in this world for your own evil purposes? You know what? I guess if keeps other people fatter than me it only makes me look better by comparison, eh? And as a bonus, if it keeps the Starbucks line a little shorter.....all the better. BO. NUS. Further, if you can't order it the way you want it with what you want in it then it is of no use as far as coffee drinks go........NO....McDon't-alds girl....I don't care what your name tag says.....you are not a Barista! Just two weeks ago you were promoted to fries and before that you were wiping child puke and shit off the chairs and booths. Week three on the job doesn't make you a Barista.

Enjoy.

Now Willie Ames can help you blow all your cash

Really? Really.

What's next for Willie Aames.....preaching? Oh, crap, he already tried that angle. Remember Bible Man? Now he wants to be your financial planner? Unbelievable. Check out all the Olathe JOCO hotties he had at his yard sale in the picture above.

I guess every year or so we have to get a new story of redemption on Willie Aames.......is this really the best we can do in Joco? Crap even Blue Springs has an American Idol winner. This is a little embarassing.

I guess I'm going to go out on a limb and guess on the next 10 redemption angles that Willie Aames will try next on the citizens of Johnson County and the Kansas City Star. Keep in mind we are talking about Olathe....barely JOCO in my mind. But seriously, even the people in Southern California must be mocking us for giving a crap and putting this guy on the front page of our "paper of record". You know The Star will cover each of these stories of redemption.

1. Drug Counselor

2. Soup Kitchen Operator

3. Mentoring Chiefs who make gay slurs

4. Recovering Democrats.........

5. Wayside Waifs volunteer.....found with 34 cats living in that dumpy apartment.

6. Craigslist Addiction counselor

7. Executive Dating Service Business.....how even a chubby guy can get a smoking hot wife...and lose her.

8. Car Salesman.......Country Hill Car lot salesman of the month

9. Restauranteur......working way up from fry guy at McDonalds

10. Return to acting..........8 (Recoveries) Is Enough

Seriously, when is enough of Willie Aames enough even in Johnson County? Sorry, I had to get this out before Friday.....because we all know that Friday is for wine. Sorry this is the best I could do.....but somebody had to try.

Where does the Republican Party go from here?

There has been so much talk in the wake of the McCain's defeat about the Republican party regrouping for 2010 midterms and the 2012 Presidential and it seems people fall into 2 camps.

Camp One: They got away from message or had no message and ran a dreadful campaign. Conclusion: If you get a better (read younger, more moderate) candidate we will fare better.

Camp Two: The party is completely jacked up and the realities of an incompetent campaign is merely a distraction from the big picture problems. The party has been taken over by passionate single issue people and by radical talk radio types that energize the base but inspires nobody else. Conclusion: We've become the party of radicals in an increasingly post racial, pluralistic society and we have to take back the party and redefine it at its core.

I'm in Camp Two. Immigration, guns, abortion, homeland security and deregulation are examples of the hot button issues that have driven the radicals in our party. The only one of these that help us is homeland security. They others divide us and fail to energize new fringe voters.

My opinion is that we need to get back to what makes a conservative a conservative and it isn't necessarily those issues. Most hardworking people support the notion of self reliance and personal responsibility.

Deregulation and Enforcing Laws: Stop talking about deregulation when CEO's are stealing their companies blind. We need to talk about efficiently enforcing our laws that should be designed to create a level playing field for all to compete. We need to promote transparency and oversight not increase government's role in businesses beyond what is necessary.

Crime: KC is piling up murders fast. A no nonsense approach to dealing with crime and cleaning up our nation's major cities will actually attract urban votes we have ceded to the democrats. Look at what Rudy Guiliani did in New York. He cleaned up Times Square, cracked down on crime and everyone noticed the city was safer. During that time he was unstoppable. We could actually win in the cities if this is accomplished.

Running Government Services Better: I know KC is a tired example but the way this city is run is disgraceful. Chicago is full of deeply inbedded corruption. I'm sure there are many other examples. From our school boards to our city councils and county commissions we need be the ones to run things tighter, more efficiently and deliver more to the citizens in terms of service and responsiveness. Citizen satisfaction surveys show people are not happy with basic city services. Let's make them feel like they are getting a good deal again for government.

Education: If we want to court the LEGAL immigrant and minority vote show them that will help them educate their kids everywhere in America not just the suburbs. Nothing will make them feel like assimilating like feeling like they are an equal partner and have an equal shot at the dream. We have the first black president and he is sending his kids to the same tony private school Chelsea Clinton attended. The schools in DC are that bad that people won't even challenge him on it. He should be challenged on it. Why isn't public school good enough for his kids but good enough for everyone else?

Redefine what Smaller Government Means: Smaller government doesn't mean letting wall street steal from main street. It means create a level playing field and let the games begin. A well officiated sporting event means you hardly noticed the refs were there.....but they are there and they do their jobs. Less government also means staying out of our personal business as much as possible. Not outlawing something doesn't mean government is promoting it. We should say that outlawing something is the lazy and way to do things. Changing people's minds on an issue so they don't engage in it is the best way to change behavior. If we really believe that abortion is killing then we need to engage people and services that encourage adoption and that means being willing to take a baby somebody else doesn't want. Maybe instead of providing no cost government funded abortions we provide no cost government funded prenatal and delivery of children put up for adoption. Now that supports a culture of life. Smaller and less restrictive means on our personal lives too.

Let Freedom Ring: Instead of pissing off immigrants...especially Mexicans....by talking about locking down the border and building walls we should talk about how much we want them in our country but that they need to come legally and help make that possible. We should open the doors more widely for honest, hard working people who want to share in our dream. If you can contribute we want you but please come through the front door. Check out New Zealand's immigration policy. Nobody calls them racist.

Finally, engage the 18-29 age group: Obama was incredible in everything from cultivating volunteers, raising money, getting out his message using new technology. He is a crackberry hound like us. We sent bulk email and made excuses for McCain that he didn't use a keyboard because of his war injuries. Shoot, there are people who use computers by blowing in straws for God's sake. If McCain wanted to nothing would stop him. He redefined how campaigns will be run in the future and how they will be funded. We ran around asking for max donations from the same old people and he raised $600 million dollars in small increments and estimates are that he will raise over $1.5 BILLION for his reelection bid in 4 years. He hired the Facebook guys and had a staff of technology people larger than the entire RNC staff. We sent bulk email. We need to engage the smartest technology people now to build and run this thing and do it now.

Stay classy Johnson County.

Post Election Thoughts

While from many corners of the conservative blogosphere you will in all likelihood see anger directed in all kinds of directions this morning I plan to tact a different course.

Watching the results come in didn't shock me in fact I think many of us were already prepared like a son who has to watch a father slowly succumb to cancer knows when the end is nearing.

I have just a few initial thoughts on the Presidential race and I think they come from the Johnson County conservative perspective. Kansas went almost 60% against Obama so there are plenty of people in the state today whose man didn't win. It was an amazing historical night and it will be an interesting ride.

First, I thought John McCain's graciousness in concession was another fine example of how much this man loves his country. Starting with and including me I don't know if I can remember a person who loves his country more. Truly, we all knew it based on his sacrifices but his eloquence in the face of defeat to put his country first resonated with me to the end. The way he asked for good will and called Barack Obama HIS president was a strong statement. It made me recall the nastiness and divisiveness of past democrats after the Bush victories where they would say, "He isn't my president" and the nasty speeches of Gore and Kerry after 2000 and 2004. I hope that as conservatives who opposed Obama that we can follow his example. I thought of that wonderful example McCain demonstrated and that I felt it just wasn't words but that it was heartfelt. It made me proud.

I was very much looking forward to Obama's speech because you just know he is going to give a good speech. Truly, what is it about many African Americans that gives them the ability to deliver such incredible speeches? From MLK, to Jessie Jackson to JC Watts....but not Colin Powell.....even Bill Cosby and Maya Angelo have delivered some of the most inspiring words and speeches I can recall. I'll never forget how SNL played on that idea when they had Jessie Jackson read "Green Eggs and Ham" one night during their Weekend Update segment. It was amazing. I wish I could inspire people in that way. Anyway, the speech on points of inspiration didn't disappoint. If he has a successful presidency it will go down as one of the great American speeches. Like the Gettysburg Address and the MLK's "I have a dream speech" it will be as beautiful read as heard.

Now we'll see if he is the ideologue he has been all of his life or the pragmatist he claims to have become. I think this country elected the pragmatist. We'll see if he is the ideologue who was the fourth most liberal in the Senate by voting record and the guy who voted against Justices Alito and Roberts because they didn't share his views but have proven highly qualified or is he the pragmatist who said we need everyone to solve this country's problems? Does he mean that he wants to work with all of us only so long as we agree with him? When he said he would listen the most when we disagree will he be genuine or will he use the same old rhetoric and call us partisans? It is my sincere hope that he is not the guy he has been in the past. He has spent the past 21 months assuring us he isn't. It is my sincere hope that the ultra liberals in the house and senate who have been his friends don't keep him from moving to the center as he promised. Once the glow of last night wears off we'll see where he lands. It was a masterfully run campaign with few mistakes. He has the chance to be very special. I pray and hope he seizes it.

Now, some more interesting local races. Hayden and Toplikar is too close to call. Toplikar lost a close one to Ruth Ann Hackler years ago for State House. Hayden has a slight lead and I can't believe that the idiot, Toplikar, is even making this a race. If he survives Hayden what can the Johnson County Commission do to discipline one of their own for his behaviour? I'm guessing that early voting played a role.

I had a few things to be joyful about last night. Lynn Jenkins beat that smug ass Nancy Boyda and that made me smile. Walking out on General Petraeus was a really, really bad idea. Johnson County Question 1 failed and now Tim Golba and Phill Kline have been handed yet another defeat. Speaking of another defeat Steve Howe beat Rick Guinn as people said they wanted to move past Phill Kline. I remember several readers told me that I was a fool for not supporting Kline and the Guinn would kick Howe's ass. Tim Golba and his crew need to find a new strategy.

I want to focus on how we beat Dennis Moore. I keep saying we need a better candidate. Nick Jordan kicked Dennis Moore's ass in the only debate I saw but I don't think anyone else saw it. Jordan wasn't a bad candidate but his campaign too slow out of the gate and not well enough funded. Our best chance is in 2012 when the area gets redistricted and it becomes a more conservative voting area. So, do we find a sacrificial lamb for 2010 and focus on 2012?

I was shocked to see that James Azeltine was beaten so soundly by Dave Lindstrom. I guess I didn't get the dynamics of the race and I certainly don't understand Lindstrom's base. I expected it to be much closer and a Azeltine win. I am going to keep a closer eye on the Johnson County Commission over the next few years.

I guess from a national perspective it is a new day. For today, I'll choose to celebrate how far we've come as a country to elect the first half black....er half white....whatever.... President of the United States. I'll celebrate that democracy survives even while we may be seeing the end of capitalism as we know it.

The republican party deserved this smack down because of the way they acted and what they became over the past 6 years. We don't just need a better strategy we need to act better and once again be the champions of not just taxing less but spending less. The good news for us is that the Republicans have no clear leadership, no status quo to hold us back from reclaiming our roots. We've got work to do.

Your November 4th Voter Guide

As promised here is all you need to go to the polls....as early as now for early voting at your County Election Office. Don't worry. Jocoeveryman has researched the issues and will tell you how to vote. I won't bore you with elections in Missouri or elsewhere because that is just commentary. I've done lots of research here for you so pay attention people. Here is what you need to know. Your Johnson County Voting Guide.

Johnson County Question #1 on electing Judges: NO. See my previous blog on this topic for details.

Johnson County Question #2 on the Research Triangle: YES. It is a bitter pill to approve a new tax especially one without a sunset clause but this is the cost of economic development that will be recession proof. As long as there are people dying of cancer business will be good. It also unlocks tons of federal money for our region. Tracy Thomas is for it...enough said.

Johnson County Commissioner District 2: John Patrick Segale. Is doing a good job. Keep him there.

Johnson County Commissioner District 3: James Azeltine. Lindstrom seems to be a nice guy who doesn't seem that passionate about the $50K a year, 1 day a week gig. Azeltine is energetic, conservative and wants the job.

Johnson County Commissioner District 6: Calvin Hayden. Toplikar continues to be unbelievably poor at his job but either his voting block of Olathe seems to like stupidity. Hayden offers a real choice as a conservative and the intelligence and energy to make good things happen. If everyone who isn't apart of Toplikar's vast family in Olathe would stand up they could get this done.

Johnson County District Attorney 10th: Steve Howe. I've blogged about my reasons which I'd encourage you to read. He is the one not connected to Morrison or Kline and would take the politics out of upholding our laws.

US House 3rd: Nick Jordan. Moore is a liberal lap dog for Pelosi in Washington and plays the blue dog democrat back home. I like him as the blue dog democrat back home so let's keep him here and take back the 3rd. I researched his voting record. He can't deny it. All the liberal groups give him great ratings and conservative interests give him poor ratings......

US House 2nd: Lynn Jenkins. I really wish this was my district. Boyda is horrible and an embarassment our government hasn't seen since Carol Mosely Braun. Lynn Jenkins is a fiscal conservative and has a great chance to take back this seat. Jenkins is the perfect fit in this district that has become increasingly moderate and Jenkins plays well to that group. Boyda is way too liberal for this red area and only won because the incumbent Republican she ran against last time had scandals surrounding him.

US Senate: Pat Roberts. Not even close and neither will the election. Slattery is a Washington wine and cheese elite who couldn't even be bothered to show up when he did have an elected job. He probably mocks us as stupid farmers to his Washington buddies.

For Kansas House of Representatives and Senate there are far too many for me to understand beyond my own district but here are some to support:

House District 14: Lance Kinzer. The incumbent stalwart conservative. Olathe.

Senate District 7: David Wysong. Champions smoking ban. Mission Hills
Senate District 10: Mary Pilcher Cook. Strong supporter of limiting abortion. Jordan's old seat.

Senate District 23: Karin Brownlee. Good conservative. Olathe.

House District 24: Ronnie Metsker. Has done a nice job in filling mid term vacancy.

House District 27: Ray Merrick. Stilwell incumbent who isn't afraid to challenge the status quo even in his own party. The McCain of Kansas.

State Board of Education District 2: Sue Storm. Her challenger is Republican Mary Ralstin and doesn't have the chops of Storm yet basically supports the same positions. Both are moderate and party affiliation shouldn't matter in this race.

President and Vice President of the United States of America: John McCain and Sarah Palin. Don't believe a guy who has been among the most partisan members of Congress based on his voting record who says he wants to govern from the middle but has never voted anything but liberal and says he won't raise your taxes. If elected Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid will own this guy and we won't be able to stop it. He couldn't govern from the middle if he wanted to because they won't let him. Pelosi and Reid really scare me.

The following are hold your nose and pull the lever votes. In other words, they aren't my kind of candidate but they are better than the alternatives.

KS Senate 11th: John Vratil. A moderate who has significant power in the KS Senate. Better to try to control him than replace him. A key to the Johnson County delegation. To replace him would be lunacy.

KS Senate 9th: Julia Lynn. She is running against former Olathe School Super Ron Wimmer who left the district in the ditch. She is filling O'Connor's unfilled term but needs to show herself more accessible to her constituents. This is dangerous race because Wimmer knows the issues and has name recognition. Don't vote for Lynn, vote against Wimmer.

KS State Rep 28th: Pat Colloton. Another of the Johnson County moderates but she is running against an 18 year old who can't wipe his own nose and would rather be at the Bottleneck in Lawrence than campaign. Conservatives need to coach her up. She has clout in Topeka.

Judges up for Retention Votes: YES.....19 times. Look, if activist Tim Golba who is heading the effort on question 1 won't post any recommendations on his site then none of them must be bad enough to kick out. Do you realize my sample ballot has TWENTY judges to vote for regarding retention? Imagine if we had to endure a partisan campaign from all of them. This would be a boom for printing companies. Think of all the yard signs, bumper stickers, mailers.......gives me a headache just thinking about it. The only NO vote is Charles Droege (Div. 8) who is an ultra liberal appointee of Sebelius. We should get rid of him before he becomes comfortable there.

Go vote! It is your responsibility as a citizen. Don't just waste it.

Say what you want about George W. Bush but this woman got the right to vote because of his resolve and leadership and her daughters will get to go to school and learn to read and learn math and maybe solve some of the biggest problems of our lifetime like maybe a cure for AIDS or cancer or maybe cold fusion or something cool like that...... under the Taliban little girls were not allowed to go to school and their moms not allowed to vote. How cool is voting to her????

And never forget that this guy made it possible. Vaya Con Dios!!!!

First Coyotes......now Cougars!

Last year we all lived the drama of Coyotes snacking on our beloved family pets to the point that the Leawood City Council had to make it a matter of business at their council meeting. While it seems the eminent threat of coyotes running loose in the neighborhood seems to have waned there seems to be much increased activity or at least discussion of Cougars running loose in sojoco and havens for them need to be known.

First, let me say, let's not collectively hate on the Cougars. I mean a 50-60 year old with a face so tight she can't blink or chew solid food and fake boobs is nothing to get upset about especially considering all the other problems in the world. They need love too, right? It is funny though how the try to dress, act and talk like a 20 year old......classic.

This summer I was at a work outing and a very young colleague was telling a story about a rendezvous. Boys will be boys when it comes to sharing their stories of sexual conquest no doubt but I thought this was funny. He started off by explaining he met a 30 something year old cougar in this bar.......I stopped him immediately. Wait, I said. This is getting out of control. There is no such thing as a 30 year old cougar. Cougars can't be younger than me. Cougars are not in their 30's. But I digress...... Another picture of the Cougar Poster Girl...Samantha

In our part of the world I thought it would be fun to catalog a list of bars where you can observe sojoco cougars in the wild. We used to call it the divorcee bar. Remember Touche? If you never had the chance to check out that train wreck of a night life you really missed an institution. I only checked it out once (truthfully, why would I lie?) but it made me want to go back and shoot a documentary there. It creeped me out when I saw a couple of my old high school teachers there hooping it up and picking up women.

The place I've heard is THE place right now is Nick & Jakes out south. I hear the cougars like to hang out and wait for the rich men to come in after playing golf at nearby Deer Creek or the Links of Lionsgate. Google didn't yield me much luck for the Kansas City area but I bet it won't take long to create the definitive list for sojoco.

Where have you seen cougars in the wild in sojoco? Do you have a good cougar siting you'd like to report?

I heard a comedian say something I thought was pretty funny. Sorry, but I can't remember his name. Sucks to be him but he said and I agree with him...."Halloween is my favorite holiday because it gives otherwise normal women the opportunity to dress up like whores. Look, I'm a witch this year......yea a whore-witch? or a whore nurse? whore school teacher look? or whatever..pretty funny if you think about it.

Check back tomorrow for my list of people I'd rather sleep with than Nancy Pelosi.

Dennis Moore loves animals, hates babies

Dennis Moore keeps a pretty low profile and seems to keep his nose pretty clean from unsavory scandals from what I can tell. Don't stick a medal on his chest for doing what anyone of character should do anyway.

I did a little research into how our third district man fairs in some key areas. He always tries to pretend when he is home that he is pretty moderate democrat.....a blue dog democrat if you will....but his voting record and how he is graded by people I'd never support tells you he is an old fashioned liberal.

I checked out Project Vote Smart online and thought it was a pretty good resource. I pulled out a couple nuggets:

I received a comment that questioned the information in this post. I said above it is from Project Vote Smart which is easy to find online. It takes a little more than normal intelligence to click through and find the interest group ratings. Here is the link. I hope it clarifies my source. I should have linked to it sooner. It is a good site.

In 2007, he supported the very liberal National Education Association (NEA) 100%.

In 2007, NARAL Pro-Choice gave him a score on supporting them of 100%.

In 2007, he supported The Humane Society's interests 83% of the time. He like animals more than babies apparently.

In 2007, the National Taxpayer's Union, a tax watchdog group, gave him a grade of "F".

The American Civil Liberties Union loves Dennis Moore and gave him a grade of 100%.

The Traditional Values Coalition gave him a grade of ZERO in 2007.

The ultra liberal and radical Sierra Club said he supported their interests 100% in 2003 and in 2008 Environment America another liberal tree hugger group gave him a score of 100%.

The NRA and the Gun Owners of America gave our former law and order man an "F" in 2007.

The AFL-CIO gave him a rating of 96% in 2007. I wonder what he didn't support that they wanted......a bill making Jimmy Hoffa's birthday a national holiday?

The American Bar Association loves him and gave him a score of 100%. Lawyers love him.

Finally, he voted to make Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House.

In summary: Pro Choice, Animal rights, Labor Unions, Lawyers (he is one), and the environmental groups love Dennis Moore. Just a quick question for all you who have crossed over and voted for Dennis Moore.......are those the things you support as well?

You have a choice this time.......Nick Jordan.

So this is what we get? Moore's office breaks rules

So next time the rest of you republicans out there think it is okay to vote for good ole Dennis Moore you might consider that he actively is working for the democrat machine in Washington.....because he is a democrat and he does what Nancy Pelosi tells him to do.

I read this on Roll Call this morning.

Moore Staffers Used Office E-mail for Slattery
By Paul SingerRoll Call Staff
July 7, 2008
On several occasions this spring, staff members in the office of Rep. Dennis Moore (D-Kan.) used their House e-mail accounts to circulate political information about the Senate campaign of former Rep. Jim Slattery (D-Kan.) in violation of House rules and, potentially, federal law.
